Iodine

The primary function of iodine is to synthesize thyroid hormones (thyroxine [T4] and triiodothyronine [T3]) within the thyroid gland. These hormones regulate metabolism, growth, development, and numerous physiological processes. Iodine deficiency can lead to goiter (enlarged thyroid gland), hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), impaired cognitive development, and other health issues. Conversely, excessive iodine intake can also cause thyroid dysfunction.

Iodine is primarily obtained through the diet, with seafood, iodized salt, dairy products, and some vegetables serving as major sources. Iodine deficiency is a global health concern, particularly in regions with iodine-deficient soils. To address this, many countries implement salt iodization programs to ensure adequate iodine intake in the population.

These products contain iodine to support your dietary needs.
